India's Digitisation Efforts Helped Boost Financial Inclusion, Targeted Assistance, IMF Chief Economist Says

India's digitisation efforts were lauded by IMF Chief Economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas on Wednesday, and termed a game changer for the country. The economist said that digitisation helped improve financial inclusion in the country, especially among unbanked people, as well as providing targeted assistance instead of a more expensive, blanket policy.
